Tuition and Pricing

Below are all the ways to get involved with New Phoenix Pottery. We hope to see you in the studio!

1. Become a student:


I. Beginning 8 week Wheel Class starting October 2, 2017 through November 20, 2017

10:00 - 1:00


Fee $275 : 

25# cone 6 clay and firing cost is included. There is small fee for finishing glaze firing. 

You can also practice in the studio during times and dates determined by your instructor


Bring your basic pottery tool or purchase from Amazon Alvin & Co. CS260 POTTERY TOOL KIT 9pc SET or

Location the New Phoenix Pottery, 10866 York Rd Rear  - which is actually Railroad Ave - in Cockeysville, MD 21030


Have you always wanted to learn how to use the potter’s wheel to make mugs, cups, and bowls? This fun fast-paced class 

will meet every Monday morning from 10:00 - 1:00 and help you tap into your creativity while learning the basic skills of 

throwing clay on the wheel. From throwing shapes to finishing your pots with ceramic glazes, this class will help you 

develop the skills needed to form and finish your own pottery. It is recommended that you take this class multiple times in 

order to investigate the concept of embedding self-assessment into your creative process.


Lynne Molner is an experienced and patient teacher who will guide your creativity through centering clay, forming shapes, 

trimming and adding handles and using standard decorating techniques to finish glazing your pots. 



II. Intermediate 8 week Wheel Class starting October 5, 2017 through November 30, 2017 (no class Thanksgiving)

6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.


Fee $275: 

25# cone 6 clay and firing cost is included. There is a small fee for finishing glaze firing. Bring your 

pottery tools.  You can also practice in the studio during times determined by your instructor

Take your skills to the next level as you learn additional techniques for throwing more complicated forms, altering forms, 

and surface decoration. We will also be using our time to develop our critical eye, refining forms, and editing our production.

embedding self-assessment into your creative process.




 

For our children's classes, age-appropriate classes are available as demand dictates.:
Ages 6-12: Hand-building Classes Only
Ages 8 and up: Wheel Classes or Hand-building
At age 14, young people have the option to join an adult class if they wish.

* For One-time Try It! Classes that are voucher paid, an additional fee of $8 applies to cover the cost of clay and glazing for your piece.


2. Studio Membership

A studio membership is $120/month. 
Clay is additional @ $20.00 for $25 lbs. We offer several different clay bodies including our reclaimed clay. A small firing fee will be applied to all glazed work.

3. Working Apprentice

If you are looking to gain experience working in an operating pottery or just want to volunteer time to support our community of artists, please contact Chris Williams at newphoenixpottery@gmail.com to discuss options. 

4. Instructor
